Food allergies

Every food intolerance is unpleasant, but not every one is dangerous. As many as 1-3% of adults and 5-8% of children have a genuine food allergy. The IgE immunoglobulins in the blood are then directed against an allergen in the food.

Genuine food allergies can quickly lead to itching and swelling in the mouth, asthma or circulatory failure. With the allergen microchip test, we can distinguish whether you are sensitized to more or less dangerous allergens and make specific dietary recommendations.

If you have already had a severe allergic reaction, e.g. shock, after ingesting an allergen, we will prescribe an emergency kit. It is very important that allergy sufferers and their family and friends are trained in its use. HERE is a VIDEO for children and parents on how to use the Epipen in case of allergic shock.

The basophil activation test (BAT) can be helpful to assess the risk of a further reaction or to determine whether tolerance to the food has developed. The very good informative value has meant that fewer oral provocations are necessary to assess the risk.
